Strengthening VET provision in government schools
In 2017, the VET Development Centre (VDC) is offering a range of professional development for VET and VCAL teachers/coordinators and careers practitioners in Victorian government schools. This includes a 10-day industry immersion opportunity.
Casual relief teacher (CRT) payments are available to schools that release staff to attend this professional learning.
Industry Immersion
There will be an opportunity for up to 100 VET teachers and trainers in Victorian Government Schools to participate in a ten-day industry immersion in Terms 3 and 4 2017. The industry immersion is designed to enhance teachers' industry currency and strengthen engagement with industry as required under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015. This activity will also assist in meeting the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Professional Development requirements.
A further opportunity to apply for the Industry Immersion for VET Teachers has been made available.
The Department has decided to provide a further opportunity for VET teachers and trainers to apply for the Industry Immersion for VET Teachers program. This program provides CRT funding for teachers and trainers in Victorian government schools to participate in a ten-day industry immersion in Terms 3 and 4 2017.
Teachers who have submitted applications by 18 August 2017, will be assessed and successful applicants will be notified and required to attend the Induction Workshop scheduled for 29 August 2017.
