João Marcos Boulomytis Correa is completing an Advanced Diploma in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology, with plans to go on to a Bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering. His passion for engineering was ignited in childhood, tinkering in the garage with his grandfather’s tools, and grew into hands-on projects designing drone frames and electronic circuits. An adrenaline-seeker who loves skateboarding, snowboarding, and mountain biking, João Marcos channels that competitive drive into his technical work. He took Gold at the 2025 WorldSkills National Championships in Mechatronics, an experience he says revealed a resilience and adaptability he hadn’t fully recognised in himself. Creative, logical, and relentless, he aims to contribute to breakthroughs in aerospace, robotics, and renewable energy – and to inspire the next generation of innovators. He will compete alongside teammate Arnold Shanahan in Mechatronics at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
