VDC VET Sustainability Fellowship for Vocational Education & Training
About the Fellowship
Working in partnership with the International Specialised Skills Institute (ISS Institute), VDC established and funds the VET Sustainability Fellowship. The Fellowship program focuses on developing opportunities for the VET sector to support sustainable practices and innovation to generate long term social and environmental benefits.
The fellowship involves the opportunity to travel abroad to research new skills and best practice in areas such as clean and alternative energy, upcycling, recycling, innovative technologies and sustainable processes and procedures, then disseminate the findings to the VET sector upon return.

Circular by Design: Global stories for a regenerative textile future
Lisa built on research that examined global circular textile ecosystems to inform practice, training and policy in Australia. Her Fellowship Report, Circular by Design: Global stories for a regenerative textile future, builds on a body of published research into sustainable pathways for small enterprise and state-based circularity. A skilled collaborator and curriculum designer, and a founding member of the Circular Textile Working Group WA, Lisa is committed to embedding craftspersonship, community and place-based practice at the heart of a just and localised circular transition.

Powering Tomorrow
Peter researched workforce development practices in energy storage technologies including lithium-ion and flow batteries. The intention was to learn from leading European cell manufacturing facilities and gain an understanding of the various occupational roles within these organisations to determine skills and knowledge required to support future production and storage of renewable energy in Australia. This Fellowship also acquired knowledge of the battery manufacturing supply chain.
The Sustainability Fellowship outcomes informed VET practice to support the mobilisation of future battery manufacturing industries in Australia. Knowledge gained by this Fellowship has enabled VET program developers to align units of competency with emerging green energy technologies in Australia.
