Joseph Onyeka Osimobi is an experienced social work and youth services professional with extensive practice across the community services, mental health, child and family, justice, and education sectors. His professional background spans roles including HSE Supervisor, Youth Justice Worker, Residential Support Worker, Orange Door Practitioner, Family Reunification and Preservation Practitioner, Mental Health Case Manager, Family Recovery Program Case Manager, and Vocational Education (VE) Teacher.
Joseph has worked closely with vulnerable children, young people, and families experiencing complex trauma, mental health challenges, family violence, homelessness, and involvement with statutory systems. His practice is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches that prioritise safety, empowerment, and sustainable outcomes for individuals and families.
In addition to frontline practice, Joseph is actively involved in vocational education and workforce development, supporting students and emerging practitioners within the community services and youth work sectors. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Social Work at Charles Sturt University, with research focusing on trauma experienced by Residential Support Workers in out-of-home care settings.
Joseph remains passionate about advocacy, trauma-informed practice, youth development, workforce wellbeing, and creating supportive systems for both practitioners and the communities they serve.
