Tarmi A’Vard is a Victorian vocational education and training educator specialising in justice and social justice disciplines. She is the Victorian Teacher and Trainer of the Year (2025), a VDC VET Alumni member, and was awarded Australian Teacher and Trainer of the Year 2025 (Silver). Her experience delivering education in custodial settings deepened her belief in the power of education to change lives, and she is committed to making learning accessible, safe, and meaningful for all learners, particularly those returning to study or navigating vulnerability.
Tarmi has extensive experience designing authentic, trauma informed learning and assessment that supports engagement and persistence, and her work focuses on learner dignity, belonging, and the emotional labour of teaching in high exposure disciplines, informed by practice based insights and contemporary leadership development.
