VDC 2020 Teaching & Learning Conference – Highlights

I 20 T&L Online Conference Carousel 200820

Overview

The 2020 VDC Virtual Teaching & Learning conference was held on 19 & 20 November. This event was the first of its kind that VDC has had the pleasure to deliver. The online conference attracted over 400 delegates from across Australia and New Zealand.

A real strength of the VDC continues to be the diversity of attendance at its professional learning programs, with TAFE, private provider, learn local provider and VET in Schools teachers and trainers all participating together in professional learning. The conference is a perfect example of this interaction.

The conference theme was all about Engagement, Student Engagement and Industry Engagement. The conference program was split into two clear themes on each day, day 1 being Student Engagement focused and day 2 focused on Industry Engagement.  This allowed our delegates to spend their time on topics that mattered most to them.  All sessions were also available to view for 30 days post-conference, allowing greater access for the busy professional.

The conference program was revamped to adapt to online delivery, shorter days and more compact sessions that covered a multitude of key learnings without consuming a full work day.

Chemene Sinson proved to be a masterful MC.  Her industry knowledge and natural ability to host a diverse range of presenters in an online environment is a credit to her.

The opening Keynote was delivered by the ever-engaging Costa Georgiadis, TV Presenter, Gardening Australia.  Costa shared stories and his experiences with education and community engagement.
