Since 2015, anyone undertaking nationally recognised training has been required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Through their USI account, students can download and share their government authenticated USI vocational education and training (VET) transcript online at no cost.
USI VET transcripts collate all nationally recognised training outcomes into a single record.
Students can use a VET transcript to:
- apply for a job
- apply for a credit transfer
- demonstrate pre-requisites for future training
- backup original documentation
- show proof of qualifications to employers and others
- minimise unnecessary retraining.
Students can share their VET transcript with potential employers, licensing bodies and educational institutions easily. VET transcripts can be customised and tailored to show specific training completed as well as how long it can be viewed for. It can also be shared as a physical printed copy or digitally via email, link or a QR code.
All students need to do is log in to their USI account via the USI Student Portal, follow the prompts and click share.
The information within a VET transcript has been authenticated by the Australian Government, allowing organisations to confidently confirm prior learning and reassuring employers that their prospective employee has the skills and qualifications needed for the job.
Registered Training Organisation (RTOs)
RTOs can view a student’s full copy or extract of their VET transcript with permission via the USI Organisation Portal.
RTOs can also update the student’s VET transcript training information using the USI Transcript Update Tool.
Accessing a student’s VET transcripts can help RTOs with enrolments, credit transfers, entitlement assessments or troubleshooting VET transcript queries from students.
