As part of the Workforce Development initiative targeting organisational capability, VDC has developed the Workforce Development Grant opportunity for operational innovation and workforce capability projects to selected providers that have a Victorian VET Skills First contract.
The VDC Workforce Development Grants will be offered in Semester 1, and again in Semester 2, and aims to provide financial support to Skills First Providers to build workforce capability and development within the VET Sectors to support training providers in maintaining quality practices.
Five (5) grants of $10,000 will be available in Semester 1 to successful applicants.
Semester 1 grants are open to Victorian TAFEs; eligible organisations are invited to submit a workforce development grant funding proposal.
Private RTOs & Learn Local Providers with a Skills First contract will be invited to submit a proposal for the Semester 2 round of grants; details regarding the criteria will be advised in May 2026.
The projects applicants will be encouraged to focus on areas of organisational workforce capability that also align with Skills First initiatives. Projects may range from general teaching and learning practice, staff induction and ongoing support, and development of emerging coordinators and leaders, and appropriate onboarding mechanisms.
The Semester 1 organisational capability project duration must be completed by Monday22 June 2026. It is expected that successful projects will demonstrate measurable impacts and practical outcomes such as:
- Build skills and capability within the VET workforce through ongoing Professional Learning
- Onboarding Staff
- Emerging Ledes/Leadership Development Onboarding

The Victorian Skills Authority funds the VDC to provide opportunities to the Victorian workforce at Skills First providers.
