Given that research skills are an important part of Victorian TAFE teacher capabilities (and any other teacher’s capability too for that matter) here is an opportunity to help develop these.

The Australasian Vocational Education and Training Research Association, AVETRA, has launched a webinar series focused on building researcher capacity and offers an opportunity for early career, emerging and practitioner researchers to develop skills.

Details about the series can be found here and you can hear AVETRA President Dr Steven Hodge talk about the series here. The first two webinars focused on the role of research for VET practice and policy (Webinar 1) and ‘Getting started with your VET research idea’ (Webinar 2). You can access a copy of the recording of Webinar 1 here.

The third, being held on 14 August, is focused on the vital issue of framing the right research question(s), and you can register for that here. There are a further 5 webinars in the planning stage, running through until March 12, 2021.

While these webinars are free to AVETRA members, individual webinars can be accessed for $20, and you can subscribe to the whole series for $100.

Oh, and by the way, VDC News highlighted the Productivity Commission’s Review of the National Funding Agreement in February this year. AVETRA held a Policy Forum on this review co-hosted by Lizzie Knight and Kira Clarke. It included a range of pre-recorded presentations and commentaries and can be accessed here.
