About the Fellowship
"I would recommend this programme to new teachers. It provides you with a community of teachers that you can keep in touch with. We are already talking about how we can keep things going."
The Teaching Fellowship aims to provide an immersive experience for teachers with a minimum of three years teaching practice, from an array of educational environments, by providing a comprehensive development program which builds on their teaching practicum and educational leadership capability. Applications will only be received from training organisations that have a Skills First contract.
The program provides Teaching Fellows with focused support in professional development so that over time, they can make a significant contribution to the growth of the teaching professionalism in VET, improving outcomes for students, industry, and the community.

Program Overview
To enhance excellence and advancement in teachers, participants will also undertake an accredited unit of competency. This work includes grading and assessment of knowledge skills and assessment outcomes including project work.
Establishing a new mindset starts with self-awareness and the 2024 Teaching Fellowship will include a profiling diagnostic tool (DiSC®) designed to address different aspects of awareness. DiSC® is one of the most widely used behavioural models in the world with over one million people taking a DiSC assessment every year. It is a personal development learning experience that measures preferences and tendencies based on the DiSC® model. Participants receive personalised insights that deepen their understanding of self and others, making workplace interactions more enjoyable and effective. The result is a more engaged, collaborative workforce that can spark meaningful organisation culture improvement - whether the participants’ workforce is remote, in the office, or somewhere in between.
The unit of competency will be delivered as a blended approach with two full days of face-to-face training including the DiSC diagnostic tool at the VDC office in Melbourne, the two days will cover the introduction of the unit, the key themes which will include a range of activities and group discussion, followed by a breakdown of the assessment requirements. The DiSC behavioural assessment will help the participants to understand their own communication and management style plus how best to interact and motivate others.
