The VDC is honoured to have the Victorian Minister for Training and Skills, Mr. Steve Herbert as the guest speaker at our second VET Leaders Lunch for 2016, to be held on 14 October at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne. Minister Herbert will provide an overview of ‘VET in the Education State’ and answer questions attendees may have regarding the Skills First VET reform initiative.

The Victorian Government Skills First initiative was recently launched on 26 August 2016 and outlines a new approach to government funded training, setting a high benchmark for training quality and supporting the courses that are most likely to lead to employment. (See related VDC News article Skills First in Victoria for an overview).

The VDC VET Leaders Lunch is an event subsidised by the VDC which has become somewhat of a tradition in the VET Sector. I encourage all that can make it to attend, not only for the opportunity to hear the Minister but to seize the opportunity to network with peers and discuss the latest trends and developments in the sector.
