A new VET research institute based at Holmesglen Institute’s Chadstone Campus in Melbourne was launched on 8th August.

The Mackenzie research institute, named after Holmesglen’s former longstanding CEO Bruce Mackenzie, aims to “provide an evidence-based rationale for the reform of tertiary education in Australia” and promote “discussion and debate” about VET policy and practice.

It will do this by producing and publishing policy-based research that challenges existing ideas, engages in public debate and suggests or develops “strategies that can enhance the capabilities of TAFE institutes.” It will also disseminate positions through media outlets and initiate or host professional development.

The Institute has an Advisory Board, with members including Tom Karmel, Berwyn Clayton, Craig Robertson, Robin Shreeve, Pam Jonas and former Victorian Minister Steve Herbert.

VDC news will be on the lookout for their publications and bring them to you as they are released.
